Dr. Herra is a prosthodontist with advanced training in implant, restorative, and maxillofacial prosthodontics, offering comprehensive solutions for even the most complex dental and facial rehabilitation cases. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and completed advanced implant training in Santiago, Chile, where he practiced for three years. He went on to complete a Prosthodontics Internship at The Ohio State University, followed by specialty training in Prosthodontics at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Dr. Herra further refined his expertise through a fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. As a maxillofacial prosthodontist, he specializes in restoring oral function, facial esthetics, and quality of life for patients affected by cancer, trauma, congenital conditions, or extensive surgical treatment. This level of training allows Dr. Herra to manage highly complex implant and restorative cases with precision, collaboration, and a patient-centered approach.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Herra has held faculty appointments at Temple University and the University of Alberta School of Dentistry, where he taught pre-clinical and clinical prosthodontics and interdisciplinary implant dentistry. He also served as Director of Implant Dentistry for third- and fourth-year dental students.
